Today is the 250th anniversary of the Second Continental Congress adopting the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia. For some reason some Christian Nationalists want that to be about Christianity, not the development of a free (somewhat) nation. Not under god.
The independent journalist Dominick Bonny has been recording the Christian Nationalists in North Central Washington for 6 years, so now we are going to read all of the articles. Buckle up, there are more than 200. So we’ll start somewhere in the middle.

The 2nd Amendment Doesn’t Give You the Right to Assemble a Militia and Disturb the Peace by Dominick Bonny – OpEd
The year was 2020, and our community was responding to the death of George Floyd. Local Christian Nationalists were getting hysterical and terrified the ANTIFA Boogeyman was coming to burn our city in the streets… so they assembled a militia to scare the protesters who were marching in solidarity with people around the country.

Episode 5 dives into that time Grace City Church members ambushed the Wenatchee School Board and refused to put on masks during a global pandemic because Carey McPherson told them to.

Episode 6 of the Bonny files dives into the attempted thwarting of vaccine mandates for public and health employees during a worldwide pandemic. Pastors at both Grace City Church and Sage Hills Church offered vaccine religious exemption seminars that they requested not be filmed or shared publicly.

In this episode Dominick Bonny talks about the original homophobic intake document given to attendees of Grace City Church as the transition from Grace Covenant Church that caused an exodus of attendees. Which lead GCC leaders to hide their homophobia a little better for a while while they built the abusive culture that permeates today. This is emphasized by the personal experience of a local queer man overhearing f-slurs and casual homophobia in GCC hangouts like Cafe Mela.
Note: Since this article Cafe Mela has released a statement distancing themselves from Grace City Church, but past employees have confirmed that baristas are asked to pray before shifts and the culture hasn’t changed
