Friends of Stella

It’s like Friends of Dorothy, but open and affirming queer spaces to celebrate your queer joy. And deserve (in Stella’s opinion) queer money.

The listed businesses are either queer owned and operated or owned and operated by queer affirming allies. These businesses have been visited and verified by Stella themselves or (if the location is out of town) by someone they trust. These locations are safe places to shop, eat, and celebrate queer joy in our communities.

The goal of the Friends of Stella list is to have easily shareable resources for safe places to go in Rural or oft conservative areas of Washington State. We know that Eastern Washington is often unwelcoming to diversity. Creating an aggregate list of affirming businesses is a beacon of hope and love. Stella wants to personally thank each and every business on this list for cultivating space for love and community in its purest form: acceptance and visibility.

Creating this list was a pleasure and heartwarming to be reminded that we are not alone.

This is by no means an extensive list, nor a perfect shield: as unfriendly people exist everywhere. This list is based on Stella’s personal experience or the personal experience of someone Stella trusts. 

If you don’t see your business or a business you believe to be queer affirming on this list and you think it deserves to be, then please do not hesitate to reach out to stella@progressivedevilry.com.

Businesses will be added as Stella visits them. If you see a business on the list that you know is *not* affirming or you had a very unsafe experience. Please reach out and explain why you think the business should be taken off the list. Your experience will be taken into consideration.
